Fall time is approaching and it’s about time for those fall family pictures. When a client books a session with me, nine times out of ten the first thing they ask me is, “what should we wear”? It’s finally starting to feel a little bit like winter here in Tucson. We have been enjoying some nice 70 degree weather the past month. It really hasn’t felt like winter but I am totally ok with that because honestly I’m not a huge fan of the cold. But I do know eventually this warm Tucson weather must go away and we must have a little bit of winter weather here. So for those of you wondering how to dress your family for winter pictures, here’s a fun idea. I love the blue in the pictures, I think it adds the perfect pop.

Senior pictures season is upon us. The inquires for senior sessions have started rolling in and I am super excited because I LOVE taking Senior photographs. From what I have scoped so far, there are some great locations here in Tucson for Senior pictures. We will have some fun places to choose from. The weather is starting to cool off so here are some ideas for what to wear here in Tucson during your senior session. One of the outfits looks like a summer outfit, but remember tights and a cardigan can always turn a spring or summer outfit into a cute winter senior outfit.

The great thing about Tucson is it doesn’t get too cold here, so light layering is perfect for your senior pictures!

I LOVE photographing seniors. I know I say it all the time but it’s worth repeating, seniors are one of my favorite subjects. I just posted pictures last week from some seniors I photographed in Phoenix, we had a blast. Why do I love photographing them so much? Because they listen to me, they love to be in front of the camera, and they have the funnest style. I always tell my seniors, your clothing choices are what “make” your photos. You want to choose something fun, fashionable, and true to your personality. I have started getting inquiries in Tucson for senior photos, so I thought it was time to post a what to wear guide for senior girls. When we book our session, we will spend lots of time talking about your clothing choices. I will even come to your house if you need help deciding. We can shop online together, what ever you need help with I am here. I love layering, accessories, and color. I always bring a bag of some accessories for my senior girls to put on if they want. The more dolled up they are, the more confident they feel! Here are a few examples of some outfits you could wear. Seniors get to have clothing changes so it’s fun to do something casual, something dressy and some other options too. Also if you play a sport or have any hobbies, I love incorporating that into your photographs too.

After a session is booked, the first thing I am always asked is “what should I wear”. I try to give my clients a lot of direction on their outfits. People always tell me they choose me for my bright colors and processing. Well I can tell you that most of that comes from outfits and locations. Clothing choices have a huge impact on how your images turn out. I love outfits that coordinate but aren’t matchy. I always tell my clients, choose one member of your family to wear a pattern and everyone try to match around them. But I double dare you to have 2 family members wear patterns. Typically they don’t think that will look good but I always show them examples where it does. The more color the better the photograph just “pops”. Here is an example where there is one pattern that everyone coordinates with. I love how each outfit pops a different color that coordinates together. This is a good spring time or summertime guide, it works for either.
I also send my clients a “what to wear” guide after they book. It helps give them a little more information, and tells them my favorite shops for inspiration!!!

I constantly tell my clients that the most important aspect of their session is what they wear. When a Mom books a family session with me, she always immediately emails me and says “what is the best way to dress my family?” Luckily I have a PDF I send that tells my clients what to wear to their family session. It goes into details about prints and patterns and how to mix and match them. The reason my images are so colorful and have lots of contrast is because of the choices of clothing my clients make. I am there to help you out 100% of the way, I have even online shopped for my clients to reduce their stress!
Today’s What to Wear is a Mother and Daughter session idea. I love the summer dresses, they are perfect for summer’s in Memphis or Tucson. I am also a HUGE fan of cardigans and think they are great year round!

As soon as a client books me, they almost always ask, “now what should I wear”? For those of you who are clients of mine, you know how much I stress the importance of what you wear. My clients will often send me pictures of what they have in mind and I will mix and match, or I will shop for them online or send them some suggestions. Usually with Seniors I give them an idea of what I love and they just bring their whole closet with them and we start putting outfits together. Last Saturday when I photographed Jordan, she seriously had 30 pieces of clothing in the back of her car. We just sorted through until we found what we liked together and what I thought would photograph the best. Then I always bring accessories to add the extra punch to the outfit. Summer is coming so we will have to start layering in other ways but there are so many fun summer options.
Those that know me or have followed my blog know my love for The Buckle. My closet is full of their stuff, most everything I wear is from them. Why? Spring is right around the corner and let me tell you, I’m super excited. It was in the 60′s yesterday in Memphis and it was beautiful. We spent the day outdoors playing ball with the kids and at the community park. I have been missing warm weather so much. I was born and raised in Arizona so my body doesn’t handle cold very well. All this snow and cold weather is so depressing for me. The forecast this week is in the 60′s and even 70 by the end of the week! I see spring coming so soon and can’t wait. So I decided to make up a What to Wear that was Spring inspired.

The adult clothes are from Buckle. Anyone that knows me knows my love for The Buckle. That store has taken way too much of my money, I love their stuff. The girls jeans are Rock Revivals which are some of my favorites and the guys jeans are Big Star Pioneers which are my husbands favorites. I love the belt with that adorable shirt on the girls outfit.
The kids outfits are all from The Gap. I just love their spring line that just came out, it’s adorable. And then that headband for the little girl is from an awesome etsy seller, Bloom Avenue. I love her headbands, they are adorable and perfect for the little girl in your life! You have to go check her shop out, she has lots of other adorable headbands.
I totally had my family in mind when I chose these outfits, these are definitely our style and their is an outfit for each of us. Hopefully this inspires you for your photo session and gives you some ideas!!!
